BIOMIMICRY PROJECT
Anti-theft fabrics
By looking at biological functions found in nature and some technologies already existing, we can then go on to use them to set up design principles for a more innovative and playful lifestyle.
The purpose of this project is to get new ideas from self-protective functions possessed by animals, plants, or microbes in order to design products for future scenarios.
Increasing social and economic instability means crime is becoming a huge problem. Looking towards nature may help us to find solutions to problems surrounding such issues.
For example, the cuttlefish gush out ink in response to danger to protect themselves from predators. This inspired me to create theft deterrent fabrics, which spray inks on to any potential thief.
